Description	:	Lt. Luther Franklin Quick, 62, of 105 Huntsman Lane, Lexington, died Monday. Born in Marlboro County, he was a son of the late Luther and Essie Quick. He was an Army veteran, joined the Columbia Police Force in 1952, was assigned to foot patrol in 1953 and in 1955 was assigned to the motorcycle patrol He was promoted to sergeant in 1968 and assigned to the traffic division and in 1975 he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to the traffic uniformed division. Born in Marlboro County, he was a son of the late Luther and Essie Quick. He was an Army veteran, joined the Columbia Police Force in 1952, was assigned to foot patrol in 1953 and in 1955 was assigned to the motorcycle patrol He was promoted to sergeant in 1968 and assigned to the traffic division and in 1975 he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to the traffic uniformed division. In 1981 he was assigned to the selected traffic enforcement program and in 1984 to special services division. He retired in 1988 after 36 years in law enforcement. He also worked for 21 years with the Carolina Coliseum and was presently employed with Seibels Bruce Insurance Co. He was a member of Grace Church of The Nazarene and the church board and was building fund treasurer. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Vera Smith Quick; daughters, Mrs. Gail Q. Jones and Mrs. Wendy Q. LeGrand, both of Lexington; brothers, the Rev. O. K. Quick of Greenville, Ansel R. Quick of Columbia and Lawrence S. and Francis J. Quick, both of Wallace; and a sister, Mrs. Lucille Cagle of Columbia. Services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday at Talbert-Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, and burial, with police honor guard, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p. m. to 8:30 p. m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Grace Church of The Nazarene Building Fund or to the Ronald McDonald House of Columbia. Published in The State, Wednesday, May 2, 1990
