Read More	Marian Gwenda Anderson, 86, Sturgis, died Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Ft. Meade VA Hospital. Marian was born September 3, 1925 at Fayette County, IA, to Willard and Iva (Haley) Butts. As a young girl she moved with her parents to Hot Springs, SD where she attended school. Following graduation from high school, she attended nursing school in Alliance, NE. After completing her education she joined the United States Navy. She worked as a nurse in Naval Hospitals in Bremerton, WA and Barstow, CA. Following her honorable discharge she returned to South Dakota and was employed as a nurse at the VA hospital in Hot Springs. She married Fred E. Anderson at Hot Springs on November 9, 1968. The couple lived in Sturgis and Marian worked as a nurse at Fort Meade until her retirement in 1985. Marian was a member of the Sturgis VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion. She was also a member of the Good Sam camping club, the Treasure Club, Hospital Auxiliary and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Survivors include her husband and one sister.Also numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, one brother and one sister. Visitation will be noon until 9 p.m. on Monday November 28, 2011 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sturgis.Burial with military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard follows at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
