Oglethorpe, Ga., and from there to Camp Jackson, S. C. Transferred to Camp Wheeler, Ga. Sailed for France Oct. 9, 1918. Commissioned as 2nd Lt. Aug. 15, 1917, and as 1st Lt. Oct. 1, 1917. Craig (USA - Ret.), 74, died Thursday night at the home of his daughter. The funeral was held Friday at Mullins Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Cedardale Cemetery directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Col. Craig was born in Mebane, NC, a son of the late Abraham and Elizabeth Jane Scott Craig. He was a member of Mullins Presbyterian Church, an active elder of the church and a member of the Civitan Club. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Vera Logan Craig; a daughter, Mrs. James W. Daniel of Mullins; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Corbett of Mebane and Mrs. J. N. Jones of Rockingham, NC; and 3 grandchildren. Published in the News and Courier, December 1970
