Description	:	HUSTON, LOU—Lou Thompson Huston, daughter of Silas and Hannah Gaheen Thompson, was born near Scioto Furnace, Scioto county, Ohio, March 10, 1865. She departed this life at Broken Bow, Neb., May 16, 1952, at the age of 87 years, 2 months and six days. In the Thompson family there were 14 children. Only one full brother remains, there being also one half-sister and two half-brothers. Read More	HUSTON, LOU—Lou Thompson Huston, daughter of Silas and Hannah Gaheen Thompson, was born near Scioto Furnace, Scioto county, Ohio, March 10, 1865. She departed this life at Broken Bow, Neb., May 16, 1952, at the age of 87 years, 2 months and six days. In the Thompson family there were 14 children. Only one full brother remains, there being also one half-sister and two half-brothers. She began her teaching career in Custer county, where she taught for several years, later coming to Fillmore county, locating near Geneva. Here she met and married Lee Huston. While they had no children of their own, they helped to make a home for his brother's family. Mrs. Huston was a member of the Congregational church of Geneva and also a past worthy matron of the Eastern Star chapter, in which she was an active worker many years. After her husband passed away in 1938, she helped care for her sister Ann until her death. Following this she made her home with a nephew, Neal Tucker of Geneva for four years. At this time the death of her brother Oscar occurred and she returned to Broken Bow to be a companion to her sister-in-law. Her great ministry of life was that of the helping hand in the time of need. At the time of her death she was making her home with Miss Elizabeth Edmunds of Broken Bow. She leaves to mourn her passing a full brother, John of Newport, Neb., half-brothers, Elbert of Alliance and Aubrey of Grand Island, her sister Mrs. Maude Bass of Wilmar, Cal., several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. Services were held from the Schneringer-Johnson funeral home at Broken Bow at 10 a. m. Monday, May 19, and were in the charge of Rev. Harley Henderson and the ministry of music was by Morris Myers and Mrs. Vance Smith. The body was then brought to Geneva and services were held from the Congregational church at 3 p. m. and were in the charge of Rev. Maude V. Mann. The ministry of music in Geneva was by Mrs. Harold Rosenau, who sang "Crossing the Bar" and "Beyond the Sunset" with Mrs. Sheldon Johnson at the organ. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The service at the gravesite was in the charge of and was conducted by the Geneva Eastern Star Order. The Nebraska Signal May 22nd, 1952 page 9.
