Description	:	FOLSOM, Calif. - Lucile Ann (Burnett) Gibson, a former resident of Rapid City, S.D., died on September 25 in Folsom, California. A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, October 19, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Rapid City. She will be buried at the Black Hills National Cemetery. Lucile was born October 14, 1918, at Macksburg, Iowa, to William E. and Iva Burnett. Lucile was born October 14, 1918, at Macksburg, Iowa, to William E. and Iva Burnett. She resided with relatives Cloyce and Vilda Corker and graduated from Mitchell High School and Dakota Wesleyan University. She married Alfred "Bud" Gibson in 1940. She resided in Rapid City from 1953 until 1991, where she was active in South Dakota politics and many city and state organizations including Toastmistress, Business and Professional Women, Black Hills Reading Council, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and Black Hills Teachers Association. She held office in the Douglas and Rapid City Educational Associations, was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rapid City and served as a volunteer for Widowed Persons Service, a program sponsored by AARP. Lucile taught school in both Rapid City and Douglas school districts from 1956 to 1980. She is survived by two daughters, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, "Bud" Gibson, and an infant son. She will live on in the hearts of all those lives she touched with her giving, humor, strength and wisdom.
