Lucile May Hartmann was born on May 22, 1929 at the home of her parents in Richland Township, Chickasaw County, IA, the daughter and second child of Jacob P.W. and Florence (Erickson) Hartmann. Lucile May Hartmann was born on May 22, 1929 at the home of her parents in Richland Township, Chickasaw County, IA, the daughter and second child of Jacob P.W. and Florence (Erickson) Hartmann. She graduated from New Hampton High School on May 22, 1947. Luci was united in marriage to Eugene F. Davis at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Hampton on June 2, 1947. She was a sales clerk at the Hauth Corner Drug in her early working years and then became a bookkeeper at the New Hampton Tribune for several years. Luci then joined the advertising staff at the Tribune for 12 years before her retirement in October 1979. In September 1979, Luci and Eugene organized and established the annual Davis Motorcycle Rally which was held in New Hampton and continues to this day. In 1992, she was selected as the Woman of the Year by the New Hampton Business and Professional Women, which honors business and professional women who have distinguished themselves in their careers and communities. Luci was a member of Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph Center in New Hampton, where she was a very active volunteer in her church and community, including the Hospital Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels and Hospice. She was a very active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, belonging to Fae Stine Unit #38 Auxiliary for over 60 years. She served as Department President of American Legion Auxiliary of Iowa from 1990-1991. Luci also held numerous chairmanships and offices at the unit, district, state and national levels. She was a member of the Iowa Girls State Staff for many years. Luci is survived by her children Jannette Hendricks of New Hampton and Gordon F. (Elaine) Davis, Sr. of Sumner, IA; her brother, Albert (Helen) Hartmann of New Hampton; sister, Ellen (Arlie) Stange of Lawler, IA; son-in-law, Michael Kobliska of New Hampton; her grandchildren, Gordon (Melanie) Davis, Jr., Daniel Davis, Neil (Kristyn) Davis, Luke (Ashlie) Davis, Michelle (Jason) Adams, Kyle Kobliska and Sara Kobliska and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene on June 25, 2000; her daughter, LaVonne Kobliska on December 20, 1991; her sister, Geraldine Gordon on November 15, 2004 and son-in-law, John Hendricks on March 5, 2002. Visitation: 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 3, 2011 with a 4:30pm Rosary at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation will continue at St. Joseph gathering space one hour prior to the funeral mass on Tuesday. Service: 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at holy Family Parish - St. Joseph Center in New Hampton with Msgr. Carl Schmitt celebrating the funeral mass. Burial will be in New Hampton Cemetery at New Hampton, IA.
