Born March 31, 1916, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Josephine Martin. Mrs. Stegmaier retired from the Celanese Corporation, where she was employed as a textile worker for a period of 40 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Farm Bureau Ladies Auxiliary, and St. Mary's Sodality. Surviving are her husband, Richard M. Stegmaier Sr., Cumberland; one son, Richard M. Wellington Martin and wife Ruth, Frederick; one sister, Sister Kathleen Martin, MHSH, Baltimore; and three grandchildren, Sean, Seth, and Liane Stegmaier, Salisbury. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A rosary will be conducted at 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cumberland, on Wednesday at 9 a.m. with Father Milton A. Hipsley as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Donahue, Harold Martin, Ray Martin, Michael Martin, Daniel Martin, and Sean Stegmaier. The family requests that contributions be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
