Born Feb. 14, 1910, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late George Martin and the late Josephine (Helmstetter) Martin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, the late Caroline Mary (Donahoe) Martin, on Jan. 14, 1988; and two sisters, Regina Donahue and Lucille Stegmaier. Born Feb. 14, 1910, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late George Martin and the late Josephine (Helmstetter) Martin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, the late Caroline Mary (Donahoe) Martin, on Jan. 14, 1988; and two sisters, Regina Donahue and Lucille Stegmaier. Mr. Martin was a retired yard foreman on the Western Maryland Railway. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #245, and was a former member of the Holy Name Society of St. Patrick's. Surviving are three sons, Grover Vincent Martin, Cumberland, Harold E. Martin and wife, Judy, Cumberland, Robert D. Martin and wife, Eileen, Rockville; two brothers, Ralph Martin and wife, Louise, Cumberland, and George Martin and wife, Ruth, Frederick; a sister, Kathleen Martin, Baltimore; and five grandchildren, Carolyn Martin, Brian Martin and Andrea Martin, Rockville, and Christine Martin-Schweitzer and husband, Eric Schweitzer, Tampa, Fla., and Dennis Martin, Chicago, Ill. Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. with Deacon Frank Warner officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Thomas R. Bevan, celebrant. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
