The Revs. John Schauer and Michael Saylor officiated with burial in Ida Grove Cemetery under the direction of Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove. Mrs. Bennigsdorf was born July 30, 1908, in Crawford County, the daughter of Albin and Alice (Wells) Carlson. She was from a family of six boys and six girls. She graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1926, and taught in country schools near Schleswig, Iowa. She married Herbert Bennigsdorf Oct. 17, 1928, in Denison, Iowa. The couple farmed in Crawford, Monona and Ida Counties until 1958. In 1959, the couple moved to Ida Grove. They were blessed with 10 children and observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1978. He died in 1981. She had been a resident of Morningside Rehab and Care Center in Ida Grove since 1991. In addition to her 10 children, she was devoted to her 38 grandchildren, 91 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Special memories were made in August 1999, when the entire Bennigsdorf family gathered for a family reunion at Estes National Park in the Rocky Mountains. She loved children, and after raising her own family, was a baby-sitter at her home in Ida Grove for 29 years. She was known to the children she cared for as "Grandma B." Survivors include nine children and their spouses, Dorene and LeRoy Wonder of Galva, Robert and Marlene Bennigsdorf of Arvada, Colo., Leila and Bernard Lansink of Ida Grove, Vernon and Edith Bennigsdorf of Delta, Colo., Ruth and Earl Dean Schmidt, Darrell and Marlene Bennigsdorf and Russell and Clara Bennigsdorf, all of Ida Grove, Carol and Maynard Miller of Atlantic and Lonnie and Marva Bennigsdorf of Battle Creek; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Bennigsdorf of Ida Grove; 36 grandchildren; 91 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Florence Jones of Ute, Iowa; Lois Adams of Charter Oak, Iowa; and Edna Blunk of Denison, Iowa; a brother and his wife, Robert and Margaret Carlson of Denison, Iowa; and two sisters-in-law, Clara Carlson of Denison, Iowa, and Ella Mae Carlson of Ute, Iowa.
