Description	:	Lucille Caroline Kruse, 87, of Salem, died at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. She was born July 30, 1921, at West Point, the daughter of Gerhard Bernard Snaadt and Adelaide (Walljasper) Snaadt. On April 20, 1942, she married Alfred H. Kruse at St. Mary's Catholic Church at West Point. He preceded her in death in 1999. She was a homemaker. Surviving are five sons, Jerry (wife Janice) Kruse of Salem, Stan (wife Leslee) Kruse of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Fred (fiance Patsy Denning) Kruse of Houghton, Kevin Kruse of Richfield, Minn.; Ron (wife Pamela) Kruse of Donnellson; eight daughters, Judy (husband Tom) Niggemeyer of Fort Madison, Bonnie Menke of Pilot Grove, Sister Margaret "Peggy" Kruse of Milwaukee, Wisc.; Sally (husband Mike) Denning of Houghton, Rita (husband Larry) Holtkamp of Fort Madison, Christie (husband Paul) Graffeo of Aiken, SC; Ann (husband Doug) Abolt of Donnellson, Amy (husband Dan) Hellweg of Donnellson; one brother, Don (wife Eileen) Snaadt of West Point; two sisters Bernice Brune of Arlington Hts., Ill., Kay Kaltefleiter of Amarillo, Texas.; and 38 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one brother Leroy Snaadt; two sisters: Cassilda Reichelt and Mary Ann Snaadt; one son William Kruse; and one daughter Martha Kruse. Friends may call after 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 5, at the St. John's Catholic Church, Houghton, where a Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. The family will greet friends from 6- 8 p.m. Friday evening, with a Christian Wake Service being held at 7 p.m. at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday June 6, at the St. John's Catholic Church, Houghton with Reverend Gary Beckman, as celebrant. Burial will be at the St. John's Cemetery, Houghton. A memorial has been established for the Holy Trinity Catholic Schools, contributions may be made at the church or the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home, 412 Ave. C, P.O. Box 247, West Point, 52656.
