Lucille Catherine Vcelik, daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Kirpes) Berger, was born February 9, 1923 at Spalding, NE. Lucille was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding and graduated from Spalding Academy. Lucille married Eloy Herrera in 1946 in New Mexico. They moved to Nevada and later back to New Mexico before returning to the Spalding, NE area. She later married Vernice Vcelik in 1957. They lived in Schuyler, NE before moving to Osceola, NE. Lucille was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding and graduated from Spalding Academy. Lucille married Eloy Herrera in 1946 in New Mexico. They moved to Nevada and later back to New Mexico before returning to the Spalding, NE area. She later married Vernice Vcelik in 1957. They lived in Schuyler, NE before moving to Osceola, NE. Lucille taught country school for a period of time. She also worked as a Depot Agent for the Union Pacific Railroad in Osceola, from which she retired. She later worked as an Administrative Assistant at a Farm Bureau Insurance Agency. Lucille is survived by: sons: David (Nikie) Herrera of Omaha, NE; Dick (Jean) Herrera of Spalding, NE; Mike (Judy) Vcelik of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Michelle Herrera, Brian Herrera, Jon Herrera, Cory Herrera, Eve Rosno, Lisa Bales, Sara Taylor, Tony Vcelik; great-grandchildren: Ashlyn, Gavin, Ella, Cassius, Joe, Hannah, Nora, Lexi, Luke, Livi, Elyssa, Gianna, Elijah, Zachary, Nathan, Samuel, Cayden, Addyson; sister: Eileen Berger of Omaha, NE; sisters-in-law: Margie Berger of Spalding, NE and Dolores Bailey of Tekamah, NE. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vernice; children: John Herrera and Ann Vcelik; sister and brothers: Helen Berger, John "Bud" (Marilyn) Berger, Ed Berger and Joe Berger. Burial was in the St. Michael's Cemetery, Spalding, NE.
