Read More	Lucille Delores (Schmidt) Hartung December 4, 1926 - November 28, 2008 Lucille Hartung, 81, Hoven, SD, died Friday, November 28, 2008 at Holy Infant Hospital, Hoven, South Dakota. Lucille Delores Schmidt, daughter of Edward J. and Mathilda V. (Mullenburg) Schmidt, was born at Seneca, SD, on December 4, 1926. She grew up near Seneca and attended Rice lake Rural School. She then attended Seneca High School for one year, Polo High School for two years, and Highmore High School her senior year, graduating with the Class of 1944. She attended Northern State Teacher's College in Aberdeen, where she earned a State Teacher's Certificate. During her nine-year teaching career, she taught at various rural and town schools. She and Bernard "Fritz" Hartung were married June 16, 1953 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Seneca. They lived and farmed 4 miles west and 1/4 miles south of Hoven. In the fall of 1993, they retired and moved into Hoven. Bernard died February 12, 2007. Lucille lived the rest of her life in Hoven. Lucille was an active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hoven, belonged to the St. Anthony's Altar Society, the Hoven Area Right to Life, and Koinonia. She also belonged to the Hoven Prayer Group and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved visiting with her family and friends. Her hobbies included baking, playing cards, writing poems, and gardening. Lucille is survived by 4 sons: Jerry (Janet) Hartung, Joe Hartung, Larry (Amy) Hartung , and Ed Hartung all of Hoven; 2 daughters: Dorothy (Rick) Hixon of Phoenix, AZ and Patty (Rob) Lamb of Kalispell, Montana; former daughter-in-law Robin Weiss of Sioux Falls, SD; 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter-in-law (Steph Hartung), 2 brothers (Ernest and Sylvester), and one 1 sister (Evelyn Howe).* * Her parents, brothers, and sister all buried in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Highmore, Hyde Co., SD. - - - - Funeral Mass: Monday, December 1, 2008 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Hoven. Celebrant: Father Lance Oser. Burial: St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Casketbearers: Grandsons - Michael Hartung of Aberdeen, SD, Brady Hartung of Bowman, ND, Cory Hartung and Josh Hartung of Rapid City, SD, and Jesse Hartung and Zachery Hartung of Hoven.
