Description	:	Lucille Stevens, 76 years old, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009. Her family meant the world to her and she to them. Read More	Lucille Stevens, 76 years old, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009. Her family meant the world to her and she to them. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. She was born Lucille Julia Weldele on Feb. 24, 1933, in Scobey, to Myrtle (Vick) and George Weldele. She was the middle child of 13. For a time, the family moved from Scobey so George could work on the Fort Peck Dam project. One of her childhood memories was taking the school bus that was fashioned from a flatbed dump truck and, as a family, driving to Minnesota and Wisconsin to meet her grandparents before moving back to Scobey. On that trip, they went through South Dakota and saw Mount Rushmore being constructed with men on scaffolding chipping away at the faces. The bus was too tall to fit through one of the tunnels on the road, so they got stuck in the tunnel. Lu grew up mostly in Scobey, but moved to Three Forks during her junior year of high school. She has attended both schools' class reunions. While in Scobey, she played the mellophone in the school band. Lu met Larry Stevens (whom she called Steve) in Billings. They were married March 18, 1956, and have spent 53 wonderful years together. They raised three children, Vance, Carla and Garth, and, for a time, raised two of Lu's orphaned nieces, Julie and Mary Tjensvoll. Together, they raised a large garden that they would share with friends and relatives. She preserved the garden produce, and had a way of making any simple meal seem like a banquet. Lu and Steve enjoyed traveling and seeing the country. One of her favorite trips was going back east to so many of the historical sites of the U.S. They also liked being outdoors and fishing together. Many have received the fish from their catch. They would go canoeing and often gather asparagus and mushrooms from the islands of the Yellowstone River near Billings. Lu also enjoyed her flower gardens, reading, sewing, embroidery and crocheting. Many relatives and friends have items that Lu has made for them. She had a passion for genealogy and was very diligent in her research of her ancestors. Through the years, she had found over 1,000 of them. She spent 15 months in Salt Lake City as a family history missionary. She was a devoted member of her church and served in many callings. Her favorite was the 20 years she spent working with the first-year Boy Scouts. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Jean, David, Dennis, Irene, Donald, Dallas and Wanda. She is survived by her husband, Steve; children, Vance (Geralyn) of Laurel, Carla (Ben) Andrus of Melrose, Garth (Lisa) of Stevensville; grandchildren, Trevor (Rebecca) Stevens of Buckhannon, W.V.A., Ivan (Rachel) Andrus of Budapest, Hungary, Loren (Rebecca) Andrus of Sandy, Utah, Sinikka and Ezra Andrus of Melrose, Lindsey Stevens of Logan, Utah, Whitney and Michelle Stevens of Stevensville; great-granddaughter Avery Lucille Andrus of Budapest; and sisters, Nina Jackman of Ray, Mich., Sibyl Delaire of Edgewood, Wash., Morraine (Don) Doty of Three Forks, Leona (Howard) Harmon of Savage, Cleo (Giles) Zickefoose of Billings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
