Burial was in the Defiance cemetery. The little girl was critically injured Wednesday morning of last week when struck by an auto driven by Nicholas Jacobs of Harlan. In company with her older brother, she was on her way to attend a rural school when the accident occurred. Following the accident, Jacobs and the driver of the other car are stated to have taken the injured girl to her home, after which she was rushed to the Denison hospital for treatment. She had suffered a fractured skull and severe body bruises. A report from the sheriff's office Wednesday was to the effect that Jacobs was under arrest and at liberty under bond, not having reported the accident until Saturday. A coroner's jury returned a verdict that the girl's death was "accidental". Jacobs, it was stated, will probably be accorded a hearing the latter part of the week to explain why he failed to report the accident.
