She was born Jan. 6, 1924, at Mrs. LaRue's Maternity Home in Missoula. Her twin sister, Lucy, was stillborn. Lu was the fourth of 13 children born to Alexander and Ellanora Albert of Alberton. Read More	Lucille May Albert Lannon SCOBEY - Lu Lannon, 79, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at Daniels Memorial Hospital in Scobey. She was born Jan. 6, 1924, at Mrs. LaRue's Maternity Home in Missoula. Her twin sister, Lucy, was stillborn. Lu was the fourth of 13 children born to Alexander and Ellanora Albert of Alberton. She grew up and attended school in Alberton, graduating from high school in 1942. She moved to Missoula, where she worked at the old Railroad Hospital. In the mid-1940s, Lu came to Scobey with Betty Hillstrom. While working at Reiner's Bakery, she met Richard E. "Dick" Lannon and they were married January 9, 1947 at Wolf Point, MT. The newlyweds took up residence at the family farm southwest of Scobey. As a farm housewife, Lu enjoyed being a member of the Silver Star Community. In the late 1960s Lu and Dick permanently moved to Scobey and built a new home. Lu worked at Daniels Memorial Hospital and retired in 1987. Lu had great joys and sorrows in her life. Her sorrows included the loss of two sons: David John, who died in infancy in 1957; and William Richard "Billy," who was born in 1954 and died in 1966 after a four-year battle with cancer. Her joys were family, music, fishing, bowling and needlework. She loved music and had an extensive record collection. When the radio station in Scobey was in its "infancy," she loaned the station many of her records. An avid fisherwoman, she spent many hours hoping to catch the big one. Lu was talented at knitting, crocheting and needlepoint. Her work will be treasured by her family for years to come. She also enjoyed get-togethers with her many sisters and brothers, attending numerous reunions of the Albert clan in western Montana. Among her special relatives was a cousin, Ethel Reardon. They corresponded for years under the pen names "Hiram" and "Ebenezer." She is survived by Dick, her loving husband of 56 years; two daughters, Sandra Lee Lannon of Missoula and Mary Catherine Hanley and husband John of Mountlake Terrace, Wash.; and grandchild Erin Bronwyn Lannon of Missoula. Surviving sisters include Sally Lundquist of Missoula and Lillian Young and husband Brownie of Alberton. A surviving brother, Edgar Albert, and his wife Mina reside in Spokane. Surviving sisters-in-law include Helene Lannon of Portland, Ore., Ida Albert of Troy and Marge Albert of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Lu was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Daniel Albert, Beatrice Bibler, Josephine Albert, Stephen Albert, Edward Albert, Millie Wheeler, Billie Jean Wanner and Clifford Albert. Lu was a no-nonsense person who went about her life in a quiet, industrious manner. She will be greatly missed. Services for Lu will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, at the Scobey Lutheran Church.
