Description	:	Lucille R. Ignowski, 96, of Kearney and formerly of Loup City, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at Mother Hull Home in Kearney. Lucille was born June 5, 1915, in Bentley, Iowa, to William and Clara (Grabowski) Knutzen. On June 13, 1944, she married Chris Ignowski in Ashton. He died in 1996. Survivors are: daughters, Julie Speirs and her husband, Dan, and Christine Makowski and her husband, Bob, all of Kearney; son, William Ignowski and Carla Hedtke of Oconto Falls, Wis.; sister, Elizabeth Kjar of Omaha; grandchildren, Roberta Koelzer and her husband, Justin, of Lincoln, Elizabeth... Lucille was born June 5, 1915, in Bentley, Iowa, to William and Clara (Grabowski) Knutzen. On June 13, 1944, she married Chris Ignowski in Ashton. He died in 1996. Survivors are: daughters, Julie Speirs and her husband, Dan, and Christine Makowski and her husband, Bob, all of Kearney; son, William Ignowski and Carla Hedtke of Oconto Falls, Wis.; sister, Elizabeth Kjar of Omaha; grandchildren, Roberta Koelzer and her husband, Justin, of Lincoln, Elizabeth Makowski of Kearney, Audrey Ignowski and Amy Ignowski, both of Lenexa, Kan., Adam Ignowski and his wife, Elisa, of Augusta, Kan.; and Christopher Speirs of Hay Springs; great-grandchildren, Dylan Ignowski and Chloe Ignowski, both of Augusta, Kan.; and brother-in-law, Ralph Ignowski of Wichita, Kan. Lucille graduated from Ashton High School in 1933. After high school, she worked in the Ashton Post Office and was a reporter for the Ashton Herald. Lucille and Chris lived their married life in Loup City. For more than 25 years, she was the kitchen supervisor at Sacred Heart Hospital in Loup City. Lucille was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City, was active in the church and was a member of the Altar Society. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cooking and time spent with friends and family. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph. Burial was in the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Ashton, NE. Published in The Grand Island Independent on December 28, 2011
