Read More	"Eveland, Lucinda Stufflebeam, obituary," Grandma Eveland, whose maiden name was Lucinda Stufflebeam, and who has lived in Bremer county since 1851, and most of these years on a farm two miles northwest of Waverly, died at the old place early last Saturday morning, August 1. The span of her life was eighty-seven years, one month and twenty-two days. Of these many years, more than fifty-five were spent where she died. She was one of the last of the very early settlers of Bremer county. She was an eyewitness of the wonderful transformation in this part of Iowa. She saw the wild prairie and the untended woodland give place to populous villages and towns, and as beautiful and rich farms as can be found anywhere in the world. She was a woman of strong character, as well as strong body. She was greatly beloved by her numerous family of children and grandchildren. In 1853 she and her husband united with the Baptist church which early settlers will remember as standing about two miles south of Waverly. That church of her choice after some years became extinct, but she never lost her vital interest in the Kingdom of God. She was born near Frankfort, Kentucky, June 20, 1819. February 5, 1835, she married to Mason Eveland, whith whom she had a long and happy married life, he preceding her to the grave in his seventy-sixth year on July 19, 1893. In the providence of God she became the mother of a large family. She bore seven sons and three daughters, of whom five sons and one daughter survive her. Her children have had forty-one children and her children's children have had fifty-eight children - a total of one hundred and nine souls. Her six living children are Henry, of Oregon; Charles of Colorado; John, Austin, Boone and Mrs. J. W. Ferguson of Waverly. She is also survived by one brother Joshua Stufflebeam, who is now in his 85th year. She was buried on last Sunday afternoon, the service being help in the Rew school house... the body laid to rest by the side of her husband in Andrews Cemetery. Charles married Harriet Malissa French on 15 Jun 1867 in Waverly, Bremer County, Iowa. Harriet was born on 24 May 1852 in Lafayette, Bremer County, Iowa. She died on 24 Mar 1926.
