Daughter of American Young and Clarissa Vermillion OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, March 13, 1947 LUCINDA V. HOLLINGSHEAD Lucinda Vermillion Hollinghead, daughter of American and Clarissa Young, was born at Columbia, Iowa, July 28, 1869, and departed this life February 25, 1947, at the Baker Nursing home, at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 4 days. She was united in marriage December 24, 1885, to Joseph Charles Hollingshead. To this union 14 children were born. Four died in infancy, a son, Floyd died June 3, 1941, and the husband died August 31, 1941. She was converted at a Holiness meeting in 1896, and lived a consistent Christian life to the end and for a number of years assisted her husband in preaching the Gospel from coast to coast. She leaves to mourn her passing five sons, Carl, of Neilburg, Canada; Howard and Everett, of Chariton; Sam, of Des Moines; and Ernest, of Albia; four daughters, Mrs. Cora Ward, of Blackwell, Okla.; Mrs. Dora Nash, of La Sara, Texas; Mrs. Faye Blubaugh, of East Moline, Ill.; and Mrs. Opal Wells, of Onamia, Minn. She also leaves several grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her many acts of kindness and guidance. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Lawson Coons, of Tarkio, Mo., assisted by Rev. John Spencer of Chariton, were held at the Assembly of God church Saturday afternoon, March 1, at 2 o'clock. Burial was made in the Bethel cemetery.
