K. STRIVENS HOME Former Resident Of County Found Dead By His Son Near Wakefield L. K. Strivens, a resident of Cedar County for many years, passed away very suddenly last Thursday at his farm home near Wakefield, being there by his son, Charles. Mr. Strivens had lived alone on his 80-acre farm three miles out of Wakefield for the past four years. His son, Charles, had visited with him on the afternoon of the day before he was found dead, and had found his father in evident good health. Arrangements were made for the elder Mr. Strivens to bring a load of corn to Wakefield on Thursday, but when he failed to show up, his son went out to his father's home. There he found that his father had changed clothers and had lain down on the bed, where he wad found dead. Mr. Strivens was born in Livingston, N. Y., on July 28, 1842, being past 82 years of age at the time of his death. He grew to manhood in New York state, and was married to Lucretia M. Gould on September 7, 1860. Some years later, on April 2, 1879, they moved to Cedar county, making their home on a farm five m iles west of Coleridge. Here Mrs. Strivens died on May 17, 1897, her burial being at Coleridge. After spending 23 years in this county, Mr. Strivens moved to the farm near Wakefield, where he lived ever since. He was married ther to Eunice Fisk on August 13, 1907. She passed away four years ago, and was buried at Wakefield. Mr. Strivens is urivived by his two sons, Frank E. of Hartington and Charles of Wakefield. Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon from the Coleridge Methodist church, and were in charge of Rev. M. E. Coltrane, the pastor. Interment was in the Coleridge cemetery.
