Read More	Newspaper Obituary The Cedar County News, Hartington, Cedar County, Nebraska, Thursday, October 26, 1939 FUNERAL HELD FOR FRANK STRIVENS Prominet Coleridge Farmer Is Buried Friday; Leaves Six Children Funeral services for Frank Elmer Strivens were held at the home near Coleridge and at the Congregational church in that city Friday afternoon. Mr. Strivens, who was 70 years old, had been a resident of Cedar county since 1879 with the exception of seven years on a homestead in Boyd county. He was born December 30, 1869, in Livingston county, New York. He came to Cedar count in an immigrant car to Grayville, S. D., wher the car was ferried across the river. He stayed with his uncle, Nelson Davis, three miles west of Hartington. In the late 1890's he went to Boyd county where he lived in a sod house. In 1901 he returned to Cedar county, farmed until 1908, then operated a livery barn and implement business in Coleridge. Later he returned to a farm now occupied by his son Carl. Early in January this year, Mr. Strivens developed a cancer of the jaw and was treated in an Omaha hospital. He was bedfast a month before his death. He married October 1, 1890, to Miss Ada Primmer of Coleridge. Eight children were born to the couple. Six children survive. They are Mrs. W. L. Mitchell, Mrs. E. H. Parsons, Carl, Mrs. Lloyd Domina, Mrs. Ernest Wilms, Harold and 17 grandchildren. Ellmer and Addie preceded their father in death.
