Description	:	Lucy Carolyn Cass Herron, 81, of Greenville, passed away July 5, 2017. She was the wife of Kenneth D. Herron, and the daughter of the late Othella Balentine Cass and former Greenville Mayor James Kenneth Cass. Carolyn was born in Greenville, SC on June 12, 1936. She attended Billy Cleveland Elementary, Greenville Junior, and Greenville Senior High schools, graduating in 1954. After graduating from Sullins College in Bristol, VA, she attended Furman University. Read More	Lucy Carolyn Cass Herron, 81, of Greenville, passed away July 5, 2017. She was the wife of Kenneth D. Herron, and the daughter of the late Othella Balentine Cass and former Greenville Mayor James Kenneth Cass. Carolyn was born in Greenville, SC on June 12, 1936. She attended Billy Cleveland Elementary, Greenville Junior, and Greenville Senior High schools, graduating in 1954. After graduating from Sullins College in Bristol, VA, she attended Furman University. Carolyn was a lifetime member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church, where she and Ken were married in October of 1958. She was an active member of a young couple’s class for several years. Carolyn also taught in the Preschool Sunday School classes and eventually became Preschool Department Coordinator. In 1978 she became a working mother and began a career as a kindergarten teacher at First Presbyterian Church. She faithfully taught for nineteen years. After retirement, she gave her energy and time in an unselfish way to care for her aging parents while being involved with her grandchildren. In addition to her loving husband of 59 years, Carolyn is survived by her children, Susan Bennett (Don), Kenneth “Chip” Herron, Jr. (Dawn), David Herron (Dolly), and Elizabeth Dobson (Daniel); thirteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and her brother, William “Billy” Cass. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, James “Jimmy” Cass and Robert “Bobby” Cass. Burial in Springwood Cemetery.
