Read More	Roanoke Times, The (VA) - December 5, 2000 HUFFMAN, Lucy Lucas, 96, of New Castle, died Sunday, December 3, 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Herman, and a son, Wayne. She is survived by a sister, Mamie Berkeley; two sons, Berlin and Joe; and five grandchildren. She was baptized into Christ at the age of 16 and lived a life of Christian service almost entirely in Craig County, Va., though she did visit Texas, California and other states. In the early years of motorized transportation and before electricity came to Johns Creek, each Sunday, for more than 20 years, she baked the unleavened loaf and provided her hand-pressed grape juice as the emblems of Communion. Her husband was an Elder in the church, as in later years, were all three of her sons. Recently she penned some of her most profound thoughts. One was, "Please don't forget me, for if you do, only then will I be dead". Lucy will certainly be among those to hear on the "last day" those holy words, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant". May it be so. The family will receive friends at the Paitsel Funeral Home, New Castle, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2000 at the Forks of Johns Creek Christian Church, with Minister Hershel Stone officiating. Interment will follow in the Huffman Family Cemetery. Lucy requested memorials in lieu of flowers, be sent to the church at Route 2, Box 1224, or the Craig County EMS, P. O. Box 81, both at New Castle, Va. 24127.
