He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Agnes Vernon Huffman; three sons, Ralph, Clyde and Roger Huffman; his mother, Lucy Lucas Huffman; and two brothers, Berlin and Joe Huffman. Read More	Roanoke Times, The (VA) - November 17, 1999 HUFFMAN, Wayne J., 76, of New Castle, passed away of natural causes, Monday, November 15, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Agnes Vernon Huffman; three sons, Ralph, Clyde and Roger Huffman; his mother, Lucy Lucas Huffman; and two brothers, Berlin and Joe Huffman. He was a native of Craig County and lived there his entire life except for 36 years of government service starting in 1943. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia. He was an active member of the Johns Creek Volunteer Fire Department, carried a monitor beeper and operated a fire truck as occasion required. He established a trusteeship for the Huffman Family Cemetery and administered funds and maintenance pertaining to the cemetery. He served three years in the Army Air Corp. in World War II. As a rated navigator he served in the 5th Bomb Group of 13th Air Force as a crew member on B-24 Liberator bombers. He flew a tour in the South Pacific and was decorated for heroic combat actions. Wayne was baptized into Christ as a teenager and lived a Christian life. He was Treasurer of the Forks of Johns Creek Christian Church and was an Elder for the past 16 years. Now he has moved to a place where there are no fires, no wars, no pain, and no family separation. Family visitation will be at the Paitsel Funeral Home in New Castle, 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Services 2 p.m., at the Johns Creek Christian Church on Friday with interment in the family cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Forks of Johns Creek Christian Church, Route 2, Box 1224 or Johns Creek Volunteer Fire Dept., Attn: Johnny Beane, Rt. 2, or Craig County EMS, PO Box 81, all of New Castle, VA 24127.
