Description	:	Lucy Elizabeth Lane, called "Bettie," was a daughter of Joseph Lane (1814-1854) and his wife Lucy Christmas Hopper (1821-1893). After her father's death, her mother married Rev. Benton Field (1797-1871) in 1856. Around 1876, Bettie married Dr. Benton Jeremy Field (1835-1904), who was a son of Rev. Field by a previous marriage, and a widower. Bettie was very active in the Leaksville Methodist Church, and the Women's Missionary Society. Despite the dates on her tombstone, I have the following information: "She was born 1848, and died 27 Dec 1916 (Source: Rockingham County NC Death Certificate Bk 3, # 48, Cause of...
