Read More	The "Pipestone Country Star", Pipestone, MN, Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1934 AGED LADY DIES MONDAY MORNING Death of "Grandma" Gregory Funerral Wednesday, Afternoon; Burial in Madison The long and useful life of Mrs. Lucy Gregory came to a peaceful close at 1:20 o'clock Monday morning. She had been in failing health for sometime, due principally to the infirmities of her advanced years, and for the past twelve weeks had been confined to her bed. Since last Wednesday she had apparently been asleep, gradually growing weaker until the end came. For twenty-eight years Mrs. Greagory had made her home in Pipestone with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Smith, and there her death occurred. Mrs. Smith had faithfully administerred loving care to her mother during these many declining years, and was with her when she breathed her last. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, at the D. W. Smith home, 217 South Lowry Street, conducted by Rev. George B. Gilbert, of St. Paul's Episcopal church of this city. The body will then be taken to Madison, S.D., for interment beside her husband. "Grandma" Gregory, as she was affectionately called by many, had endeared herself to a very large circle of friends here. she was a devoted member of the Methodist Episcopal church, took an active part in the work of the Aid Society; and also in the Woman's Relief Corps and W.C. T.U. so long as health permitted. It was her wish that she might remain useful and be able to do something to help others, as long as life remained, and this wish was gratified to a remarkable degree. Even as late as last summer and fall, at the age of over ninety-five years, her fingers were still busy making scrap-books and also small garments, that she might bring cheer to little children, many of whom she numbered among her friends. Older friends have also been the recipients of pieces of her needle-work, done since she was well past the ninety year mark. Lucy Elizabeth Page was born April 12th, 1838, in Lisbon, St. Lawrence county, New York, and attained the advanced age of nearly ninety-six years. At the age of fifteen she came west with her parents, settling in Faribault, Minn., the family later moving to Wisconsin. At Naples, Buffalo County, Wisconsin, on Feb. 10th, 1861, she was united in marriage with Stephen Gregory. Mr. Gregory served during the Civil War, and a few years after the close of the war, the family moved to Spring Valley, Minn., from there to Salem, S.D. and later to Madison, S.D. At Madison Mr. Gregory's death occurred on June 20th, twenty-eight years ago, and the following September Mrs. Gregory came to Pipestone to reside with her daughter. Four children preceded their mother in death. Surviving are the only daughter, Mrs. Minnie Smith, of Pipestone; and four sons: Gilbert, of San Bernardino, California: Edward, Bryant, S.D.: Sherman, Tomahawk, Wis; and Thomas, near Vilas, S.D. She also leaves a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. H.H. Woertink Jr., and son, Richard, of Pipestone, are respectively grandchild and great grandchild of the late Mrs. Gregory.
