(Source: Saline County, NE Marriage Records) ======================= The Chester Herald (Chester, NE), Thursday, July 28, 1932; pg. 1 Mrs. Lucy Allsman Passes Away At Hebron Mrs. Lucy Allsman was taken seriously ill last week and was taken to the hospital at Hebron on Friday, where she underwent an operation for appendicitis and gallstones. She passed away at the hospital Monday afternoon. Lucy Elizabeth Taylor Allsman was born near Wilbur (sic), Nebraska, September 1, 1869, and passed away at Hebron, Nebraska, July 25, 1932, at 3:15 p.m., at the age of sixty-two years, ten months, and twenty-four days. On March 13, 1893, she was united in marriage with George W. Allsman at Wilbur (sic), and shortly afterwards moved to the vicinity of Chester, Nebraska, where she has lived since that time. Mr. Allsman preceded her on the last journey, passing away June 26, 1905. The following children survive her: Mrs. Ethel Watson, Mullen, Kansas; Mrs. Eva Spicer, Geneva, Nebraska; Mrs. Hattie Smith, Chester, Nebraska; and Tobias, Manning and George Allsman also of Chester. Two stepsons were also reared by Mrs. Allsman: Joseph Allsman of Chester, and Eugene Allsman of Hastings, Nebraska. Two sisters still survive her: Mrs. Nora Burchett and Mrs. Pearl Johnson of La Junta, Colo., and three brothers: George Taylor of Belleville, Kansas, and Chessly and Orville Taylor of Mahaska, Kansas. She was a grandmother to eighteen children, and leaves a large number of other relatives and friends who will remember the many fine and beautiful deeds of her life. Mrs. Allsman was a member of the Christian Church for twenty-six years, and remained true and faithful to her God to the end. Funeral services were conducted by Frank Gardner at the Christian Church, Wednesday, July 27, at 2:30 p.m. Interment was made in the Chester Cemetery. When earth's last picture is painted, and the tubes are twisted and dried, When the oldest colors have faded, and the youngest critic has died, We shall rest, and, -- faith, we shall need it, lie down for an aeon (sic) or two, Till the Master of all good workmen shall set us to work anew!
