Read More	The Chester Herald (Chester, NE), Wednesday, March 12, 1952; pg. 1 Obituary - GEORGE ARTHUR ALLSMAN George Arthur Allsman, youngest son of George W. and Lucy Allsman, was born near Stoddard, Nebraska, on September 12, 1905. His father was accidentally killed before he was born. He spent most of his life in the Chester community. He was inducted into the Army on April 17, 1942, and served in the first invasion forces in North Africa with the Army Engineers Boat Regiment. He received his honorable discharge on July 18, 1943. His health was never very good following his discharge from the Army, but it seemed to improve until about eight weeks ago when his condition became serious. He passed away at Concordia, Kansas, on March 4, 1952. George was a member of the Odd Fellow's Lodge No. 135 in Chester, Nebraska. Although he did not belong to a church, he was a confessing Christian and had received the sacrament of Christian baptism a few days before he passed away. He is survived by two brothers: Tobias of Chester, Manning L. of Munden, Kansas; one half-brother: Eugene of Hastings, Nebraska; three sisters: Mrs. Ethel Watson of South Whittier, California, Mrs. Eva Spicer of Chester, Nebraska, and Mrs. Hattie Smith of Selah, Washington; one uncle: C.L. Taylor of Fairbury, Nebraska; besides many other relatives and a wide circle of friends. He was a loving brother and a friend who was generous in many helpful ways. Funeral services were conducted in the Christian Church in Chester on March 6. A quartette made up of Miss Bonnie Moxham, Miss Mary Ann Sherwood, Ray Truss, and E.A. Moxham sang three hymns. Miss Joan Davenport was at the piano. Rev. James Irwin was the minister in charge. Pall bearers were: Melvin Crouse, Joe Duey, Howard Young, George Russell, Julius Gausman and Gerald Snook. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery. Graveside services were conducted by I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 135. The Hebron Legion post color guard and firing squad concluded the service.
