Death of Mrs. Corbin (nee Slack) was born at Stonington Point, Conn., September 5, 1814, died at her home near Carrollton February 16, 1901, aged 86 years, 5 months and 11 days. She was married to Chas. Corbin in 1887, was the mother of eleven children, five of whom and her life companion are now living. With her husband she moved to this country twenty-eight years ago. While age and infirmity came upon her she bore it patiently, always even seeming cheerful, and was loved by all who knew her. Funeral services were conducted by the writer Sunday at the U.B. church, Carrollton, from the text, “The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.” – 1 Cor., 15-26. And the body was laid to rest to await the resurrection of the just, for she died in the faith of Christ as her Savior. – A.C. Rinehart (Carroll Sentinel, Carroll, IA, February 21, 1901) The Death of Mrs. Corbin Mrs. Lucy Corbin died at her home near Carrollton, Saturday morning, Feb. 16. The immediate cause of her death was an attack of grippe and other complications. Deceased was born in Massachusetts in 1815 and was therefore 86 years old at the time of her death. She had been a resident of Carroll county for twenty-eight years, coming to this place from Clinton county. Beside the aging husband, the companionship of whose loving wife he had enjoyed for sixty-three years, four children were left to mourn their loss, C.D. Corbin of Carrollton, Sidney of California, Mrs. Carter of Des Moines and Mrs. Warrick of Nebraska. Funeral services were held Sunday at Carrollton conducted by Rev. Rinehart.
