Interment will follow in Cedardale Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Mrs. Mason died Sunday, March 18, 2001 in McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness. Born in Greenville, April 19, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Truman Johnson Reames and Lydia Owen Reames. She was a graduate of Winthrop College, class of 1946, and taught school at Mullins High School and Floyds High School, 1946-1948, and in Seneca and Atlanta while her husband was at Clemson and dental school. After returning to Mullins in 1953, Mrs. Mason taught in the Mullins district school for many years. As a member of the Mullins First Baptist Church, Mrs. Mason taught Sunday School for over 40 years, was a member of the choir and was a leader in the W.M.U. She was well-known as a teacher of various denominational studies and as a luncheon and after-dinner speaker. With her God-given talent to tell humorous stories, she entertained many church and Lions Club groups. Mrs. Mason was active in many community and school activities. She was a Girl Scout troop leader and later served as President of the Pee Dee Girl Scout Council. She also was a past president of the South Carolina Dental Wives Alliance. Surviving are her husband, Dr. Franklin G. Mason of Mullins; three daughters, Mary M. King (Joe) of Kingsburg, Lucy Anne Ham Bridges (David) of Mullins and Deby M. Strickland (Allen) of Marion; a brother, Truman Johnson "Jack" Reames, Jr. of Abbeville; and 14 grandchildren. Mrs. Mason was predeceased by a daughter, Fran Mason Hayes; two sons-in-law, Henry "Butch" Ham and Alan F. Hayes; and two sisters, Anne R. Sherard and Eva R. Cathcart.
