Description	:	Lucy Goss Reynolds was born Aug 9, 1845, on a farm near the village of Talleyrand, Iowa. In 1862, with the family, she moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa, where she attended Penn College and afterwards engaged in teaching. Oct. 8, 1868, she was married to J. H. Reynolds, and in 1869, with her husband, went to Clay County, Iowa and located on a government homestead near the village of Peterson where they resided ten years when they came to Harlan which city has since been their home. Read More	Lucy Goss Reynolds was born Aug 9, 1845, on a farm near the village of Talleyrand, Iowa. In 1862, with the family, she moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa, where she attended Penn College and afterwards engaged in teaching. Oct. 8, 1868, she was married to J. H. Reynolds, and in 1869, with her husband, went to Clay County, Iowa and located on a government homestead near the village of Peterson where they resided ten years when they came to Harlan which city has since been their home. To Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds were born three sons--Charles, Roy and Carl--and four daughters--Elizabeth, Myrtle, Loretta and Florence--all of whom reached home and were with their mother during her last hour. Her husband, three brothers and five sisters also survive her. By the death of Mrs. Reynolds our city loses one of its early settlers as well as one of its most highly esteemed and worthy pioneer ladies. She stood for all that is pure and good ennobling in the home and in society. From young girlhood she was a member of the M. E. Church and but few exemplify the true Christian life in the home, in the church, in the world at large so fully as did she. Funeral service were held last Friday at 4 p.m. and the remains were tenderly and lovingly laid to rest in the Harlan cemetery.
