Read More	OBITUARY OF LUCY (TROXEL) COLSON HIXON _____ THE IMPERIAL REPUBLICAN, Imperial, NE Thursday - May 17, 2001 Pg A5 ______ Lucy Hixon, age 102, of Ogallala, Neb., died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Indian Hills Manor. Lucy was born Jan. 31, 1899, near Gallatin in Daviess County, Missouri. She was the daughter of William D. and Ida L. Hampton Troxel. She and her family came to Nebraska in a covered wagon in 1904. They homesteaded in Hayes County near Palisade, Neb. Later they moved to a sod house north of the Stinking Water Creek and finally to a new wooden house closer to the Creek. There were seven brothers and three sisters in Lucy's family. Lucy attended Shiloh School. Lucy married Harry Colson at the new house on April 19, 1916. This was a double wedding as Lucy's sister, Lillie, married Harry's brother, Ray, on the same day, same time. The brides wore identical dresses. Harry and Lucy settled on a farm on the North Divide where they lived until retirement in 1966, when they moved to Wauneta. Harry died in 1970. In 1975 Lucy married Cleo Hixon. They remained in Wauneta until his death in 1985. Lucy then moved to Ogallala to live with her daughter, Delpha. Lucy entered Indian Hills Manor in November 1994. Survivors include one daughter, Delpha J. and husband, Fred Olmsted, of Ogallala. Also 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 32 great, great grandchildren and one great, great, great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Visitation was held Sunday, May 13 at Draucker Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Monday, May 14, at 10:30 a.m. at the Ogallala Church of Christ with Max Towell officating. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery at Wauneta, Neb. A memorial has been established to the Ogallala Church of Christ. Draucker Funeral Home of Ogallala was in charge of arrangements.
