Description	:	OBITUARY OF HARRY COLSON Harry Colson, son of Robert and Clara Colson, was born in Perkins County near Elsie, Nebraska, October 6, 1896 and departed this life January 30, 1970 at the Ogallala hospital at the age of 73 years and 3 months. At an early age he moved to Hayes County with his parents and farmed north of Hamlet, Nebraska. He attended a rural school and lived through many hardships know to the early settlers. Read More	OBITUARY OF HARRY COLSON Harry Colson, son of Robert and Clara Colson, was born in Perkins County near Elsie, Nebraska, October 6, 1896 and departed this life January 30, 1970 at the Ogallala hospital at the age of 73 years and 3 months. At an early age he moved to Hayes County with his parents and farmed north of Hamlet, Nebraska. He attended a rural school and lived through many hardships know to the early settlers. On April 19, 1916 he was married to Lucy Troxel. They have farmed ever since then in Hayes County. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1966. Four children were born to this union. Harry was baptized and united with the Church of Christ in 1917. His keen sense of humor, thoughtfulness of his family, and friends and kind disposition made him a friend to all who knew him. He had been failing in health for several years, but bores his suffering cheerfully and life held much enjoyment for him. In 1966, although he continued farming, he and his wife moved to Wauneta, Nebraska. One son, Edwin, preceeded him in death in 1953. He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Lucy, two daughters – Delpha Olmsted of Ogallala and Thelma Graham of Hayes Center; one son – Omar, of Cambridge, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; two brothers – Ed Colson of Holyoke, Co., and Ray Colson of Hayes Center, Nb., and a host of other relatives and friends. One by one our loved ones are going To a brighter, fairer shore Just a smile, a pleasant hand-clasp And we see them here no more. Our dear ones who have left us Will in beauty rise again In a fairer clime we’ll greet them Free from sorrow, free from pain. A very large crowd was in attendance at the funeral which was held Monday, February 2 at the Wauneta Church of Christ with Rev. Darrel Foltze officiating. Songs sung by a Church of Christ group were: “How Great Thou Art”, Further Along”, “Never Grow Old” and “Sweet Bye and Bye”. Palbearers were Leslie Stretch, Lynn Haarberg, Mason DeHart, Leland DeHart, Bob Hamilton, and Ronald Wach. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery at Wauneta.
