She was born Dec. 16, 1915, at Stillwater, Okla., the daughter of Frank and Lula (Kincaid) Smethers. She moved with her family, in a covered wagon, from Stillwater to Eureka, then to El Dorado. Read More	Wife of Clinton Sammons The Eldorado Times Monday, July 28, 2003 Lucy 'Wanetta' Sammons Lucy "Wanetta" Sammons, 87, of El Dorado, died Saturday evening, July 26, 2003 at a local nursing home. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Lawns Cemetery. She was born Dec. 16, 1915, at Stillwater, Okla., the daughter of Frank and Lula (Kincaid) Smethers. She moved with her family, in a covered wagon, from Stillwater to Eureka, then to El Dorado. She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1936. While in high school she played on a traveling basketball team. She was united in marriage to Clinton Franklin Sammons on Sept. 21, 1935, in Newton. During their time together they moved from El Dorado to Greenwich. They moved back to El Dorado and she had resided here since. She was a cook for Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital, the Kansas Turnpike, Sunset Inn, the Pancake House and worked in the deli at IGA. She loved to prepare the family holiday dinners. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Good Sam's Club, Winnebago Club and the Jayhawkers. She had many loves in her life, like sewing, crocheting, gardening, cooking, traveling and camping, but her main love was taking care of her family. Survivors include: sons, David and his wife Charlott Sammons of El Dorado and William and his wife Sandy Sammons of Haysville; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Alona Ann Barber; brother; two sisters; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter. A memorial has been established with the Lakepoint Nursing Center of El Dorado. Contributions may be left with Kirby-Morris Funeral Home who has the arrangements.
