He was born on the Allestad Farm near Fiekkefkord, Norway on August 27, 1903, the son of Lars and Astrine Undheim. He attended school in Norway sometimes going to school on his skis. I 1921, he came to Amerian ending up in Montana. He first worked for the Pope ranch, herding sheep. He married Bertha Raisland in Big Timber on December 24, 1934. they homesteaded on Duck Creek in the Crazy Mountains, then moved to a sheep ranch on Wild Cat Creek in 1938. They retired in 1969 and moved into Big Timber to reside. They enjoyed numerous trips to Norway. He was a founding member of the Big Timber Loyal Order of the Moose, belonged to the Senior Citizens' Hospitality House, and enjoyed playing cards with all of his friends. He was a member of Big Timber Lutheran Church and a proud member of the Republican Party. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Anna Egeland and Astrid Skarpenes; 3 brothers, Ole, Thorvald and Selmar; a son, Lawrence A. in 1937; and his wife in 1987. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Elaine K. Allestad, and their children Holly, Lonny and William of Big Timber; 3 daughters, Astrid and William Lorash and their children of Billings, Carrie Toennis, Westminster, Colorado, and Julie Lorash of Aloha, Oregon; twin daughters Sally and William Taylor and children Glenda, Wendy and Susie of Big Timber, and Sonja and Kenny Osborne and children Kenny, Tom and George all of Gillette, Wyoming; a sister Elisabet Jakobesen of Flekkefjord, Norway; and several nieces and nephews.
