Married Ross Hoy March 12, 1904.∼Evening Times-Republican, Marshalltown, Iowa ~ 17 Apr 1905, Mon • Page 2 Mrs. Avis Hoy came about two weeks ago for a visit with her sister, Mrs. James L. Wylie, from her home in South Dakota, and while in poor health at the time, was not considered dangerously ill. She grew worse rapidly, however, and her friends began to fear that dread disease, consumption, had fastened itself upon her. Notwithstanding all that care of friends, and the skill of physicians could do, she passed into the dreamless sleep called death on Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Her husband of only a year, was with her, as also her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Cable [sic] and many friends, who now mourn her departure. Mrs. Hoy was about thirty years of age and had lived a beautiful Christian life thus untimely ended on earth to enjoy its fruition in the eternal sunshine of the presence of her king. The funeral services will be held at the Congregational Church today at 1 p.m., the pastor, Rev. George R. Chambers conducting them. Added 12 Feb 2022
