She was born February 8, 1923, in Frankford and was a daughter of the late Andrew Lester and Hannah Elizabeth Bennett. She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Higginbotham Jr.; a daughter, Margaret Higginbotham Snyder; one sister, Lucy B. Garrett; and two brothers, Ladura and Layton Bennett. She was a member of Frankford United Methodist Church, former member of the Greenbrier County Homemakers, was a 4-H leader of the Frankford Mountaineers 4-H Club for over 25 years, and a member of the Greenbrier County Farm Bureau for over 60 years. She was a member of the Greenbrier County Republican Executive Committee and the West Virginia State Republican Executive Committee for many years. She was named a Distinguished West Virginian by Governor Arch Moore. She worked at the West Virginia State Fair Paging and Lost Children for many years. She is survived by one daughter, Lucy H. Tuckwiller and husband, Ben, of Lewisburg; two sons, William M. Higginbotham of White Sulphur Springs and Charles A. Higginbotham and wife, Carla, of Frankford; six grandchildren, Stephen Snyder and wife, Leigh Ann, Michael Snyder and wife, Amber, Anthony Banton, Megan Crane and husband, Josh, Russell Higginbotham, and Josh Higginbotham and wife, Kelli; and five great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 8, with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. at Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, with Carolyn Arbuckle officiating. Interment will be in Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg, at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Frankford United Methodist Church or the Frankford Volunteer Fire Department. Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, is in charge of arrangements.
