Description	:	Mrs. Lula "Maxine" Simmons Goin, age 81, of Westfield, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Village Care of King. She was born on January 7, 1931 in Stokes County, to the late Fred and Edith Jessup Simmons. Mrs. Goin worked as a seamstress and supervisor for more than 30 years at JP Stevens Textile Co. and was a member of the Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Goin is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James Davis and Renee Goin of Westfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Jimmy Barker of Westfield; one sister, Betty Collins of Greensboro;... Read More	Mrs. Lula "Maxine" Simmons Goin, age 81, of Westfield, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Village Care of King. She was born on January 7, 1931 in Stokes County, to the late Fred and Edith Jessup Simmons. Mrs. Goin worked as a seamstress and supervisor for more than 30 years at JP Stevens Textile Co. and was a member of the Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Goin is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James Davis and Renee Goin of Westfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Jimmy Barker of Westfield; one sister, Betty Collins of Greensboro; a sister-in-law, JoAnn Simmons of Vilas, NC; four grandchildren, Ginger (Jason) Hodges, Cassidy Goin, Cortney Goin and Damon Goin; and four great-grandchildren, Amber, Jackson, and Adalee Hodges and Cainen Anderson. Mrs. Goin was preceded in death by her husband, James "J.D" Goin; her parents; and two brothers, Bobby Simmons and Johnny Simmons. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, February 13, 2012 at Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M. where she will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Francisco Ruritan Club, c/o Tina Abbott, 1343 Lorraine Smith Rd., Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Barbara Wright, 3660 Horseshoe Rd., Westfield, NC 27053. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses in the Palliative Care Unit at Forsyth Memorial Hospital and to the staff at Village Care of King.
