Description	:	Frances Hill, 99, of Minden died Friday, May 14, 2010, at Kearney County Health Services-Hospital in Minden. She was born Feb. 6, 1911, in Harvard to Harry and Gertrude (Albee) Strine. On Sept. 22, 1934, she married Melvin "Shorty" Hill in Harrisburg. He preceded her in death. Survivors include her son, Harry Hill and his wife, Gladys, of Ovid, Colo.; daughter, Peggy Melroy and her friend, John Wempen, of Minden; daughter-in-law, Gaylene Hill of Minden; 14 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Laurence Strine and his wife, Ione, of Minden. She grew up in the Harvard area and attended school in Harvard. She moved to Minden at age 17 and lived with her aunt, Ruth Warp. She worked at Warp Publishing Co. She and her husband lived in Harvard, Hastings and Axtell and moved to Minden in 1951. She was a member of First Christian Church in Minden. She loved having family and friends around her. Their house was always filled with family or kids playing. She learned to sew and embroider and made scrap quilts for all the kids. She loved having her grandchildren around and would often baby-sit. Frances enjoyed playing cards, dancing and visiting. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Dwight "Tiny" Hill and Jack Hill; brother, Harry "Stub" Strine; sister, Peggy Fischer; and three granddaughters.
