Shaw children are: Mary Malinda Shaw b. 1855 Martha Almira Lewis b. 1857 William Riley Shaw b. 1859 Dan William Shaw OBITUARY The Urbana church was the scene of a very large audience last Wednesday morning, the occasion being the funeral service of Mrs. Laurana Shaw who for a period of 25 years was a resident of Urbana, but for the past seven years had been living with her daughter near Kearney, NE. Mrs. Shaw had been sick for some time until about a few weeks ago and her daughter thought there was nor immediate danger but suddenly she was taken ill and in a few hours passed away. The end coming Sunday evening, Dec., 7th. The body was shipped to Loomis Wednesday morning accompanied with her children and taken overland to the little church where she had been a member during the time of her residence in the neighborhood. The services were conducted by Rev. William Richards and Rev. R.S. Pierce who had been the deceased's pastor for a long term of years and who spoke tenderly of the life of usefulness of Mrs. Shaw. Mr. Richards took for his text Rev. 14: 13 and showed wherein the text was very appropriate to one who had led an exemplary life as the one who lay before him. The large audience at the church and cemetery was evidence of the esteem in which she was held. Miss Laurana Woodruff was born in Brown Co., Ohio, Dec. 9th, 1834, at the time of her death having come to the eve of her 79th birthday. She was married to James Shaw in Fulton Co., Ill., in 1854. In 1872 with her husband, she came to Clay Co., Neb. and ten years later to Phelps Co. where she had resided until 7 years ago. Her husband preceded her to their Heavenly Home 19 years ago. Mrs. Shaw was buried by the side of her husband in the Urbanda cemetery. Those left to mourn her loss are 2 sons, Rev. D. W. Shaw, Fontana, KS, W.R. Shaw, Oshkosh, NE and one daughter, Mrs. Mary Nickles, Kearney, NE, a brother in Illinois and a sister in Kansas.
