The date of his birth was May 5, 1845. One brother came to be a companion and playmate. Luther attended school and grew to young manhood in the rough and rugged hills of NY. Relatives of the Andrews family had imigrated to the middle west and the attractions were so alluring that Levi Andrews with his dear ones turned their faces in the same direction. During the Civil War, 1864, they moved into IA and settled in Linn Co. June 30, 1870, was another milestone in Luther's life, for on that day he led his bride, Lydia Brown, to the marriage altar. They began housekeeping on a part of the "Old Scott Place." Later they built a new home and lived there till the death of the wife and mother. To their union 6 children were born. His companion preceded him in death June 9, 1923. Since here death he has lived with his children. He has been in good health till the past few months, during which there has been the general decline due to his increased years. He passed away at the home of his son Walter. Mr. Andrews was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church in Waubeek. He is survived by 5 sons and one daughter: Orville, Delbert, Edward, and Walter of Central City: Claire of Dinsdale, and Mrs. Myrtle Goodlove of Whittier. Also by 16 children and 10 great grandchildren. The funeral service was held in the Jordans Gove church March 10, 1931. The Rev. Charles E. Luce of Rockford, IA, a former pastor, was assisted by the Rev. Ernest Allen in the service.
