Floyd, a member of the Soldiers' Home, and a continued invalid in the hospital, died at 11:25 Thursday night of chronic rheumatism. Mrs. Floyd was the widow of John Floyd, Company E. Third Iowa infantry, who died at the Home, May 22, 1902. Mrs. Floyd was admitted with her husband from Eagle Grove in October, 1900, and has been in the Home ever since. She was 73 years of age, and was a native of Ohio. One son, John Floyd, of Eagle Grove, survives the deceased. The funeral arrangements have not as yet been made. Evening times-Republican -- Marshalltown, Iowa June 8, 1906 ************ Lydia Stryker Floyd was born in Trumbull County, Ohio in the year 1833 and died at Marshalltown on June 7, 1906, having reached the goodly number of years of over three score and ten. The deceased in the year 1848 moved with her widowed mother to Bureau county, Ill., where she was married to John S. Floyd in the year 1853. Two years after their marriage they came to Iowa, settling at Webster City. During the early period of the Civil war the family moved to Mariete, Marshall county, where the husband entered the U. S. service, and she moved with her children to this county in order to be near her brother, Wm. Stryker, where she remained until the close of the war and her husband, had returned home. She was the mother of eight children three of whom died in early childhood, while five of them survive their mother, being Louise Morgan of Eagle Grove, Cyrus E., of South Dakota, James, of Hamilton county, John D., of Minnesota, and Eva Taylor, of Lehigh. Mrs. Floyd was raised in the faith of the Methodist Episcopal church, but during the yearly settlement of the country and since her affliction, she has attended church but a few number of times. She died at the Soldiers' home in Marshalltown where she and her husband have been for several years, he having passed into the Beyond two years ago. Of the seven families who first settled Troy township, but one of the heads of those families now remain, Daniel Wilcox, who resides with his sons in Northern Minnesota. The funeral was held at Troy Center church Sunday, June 10, Rev. Hastings having charge of the services. The remains were laid to rest in the Troy cemetery along side of those of her husband.
