McNair Lydia Ann Ward McNair was born in the state of Ohio, December 21, 1838, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. S. Johnson, February 1, 1918, near Eldon. When a small child her mother died and she removed with her father to Indianapolis, Indiana, and moved from there at the age of 17 to Kirkville, Iowa. McNair Lydia Ann Ward McNair was born in the state of Ohio, December 21, 1838, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. S. Johnson, February 1, 1918, near Eldon. When a small child her mother died and she removed with her father to Indianapolis, Indiana, and moved from there at the age of 17 to Kirkville, Iowa. Here she was married to Harrison McNair, January 27, 1856. She was converted at the age of 15 and became a member of the Methodist church. Later she transferred her membership to the United Brethren church, in which she was an earnest, energetic worker; assisting her husband in his work as minister of the gospel. After her marriage she resided in various places in southern Iowa, where her husband was filling his pulpit. She was ever ready to help in time of need. The sick will sadly miss her ministrations, and the needy and sorrowing her assistance and consolation. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. McNair, three of whom survive. They are Mrs. Lilly Humphrey, Mrs. Myrtle Rupe, and Mrs. Clara Johnson. Mrs. Anna Fiedler and Alonzo McNair are the children who are dead. She was also preceded in death by her husband January 29, 1916. Besides her children she leaves to mourn their loss one sister, Mrs. Celia Morrison of Stuart, twelve grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. She also leaves a host of friends. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. W. McBain, who officiated at the funeral of her husband just two years and one week ago. She was laid to rest beside the companion of her active life, and so passed another of the old pioneers.--Contributed. Transcribed as published by Karen Brewer
