On February 22, 1949, she and Charles Walter Porubsky were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where they were both lifetime members. They were blessed with 49 years of marriage until Charles death on July 29, 1998. Lydia was born December 7, 1924 in Topeka, the daughter of John and Catherine (Burghart) Kaberline. On February 22, 1949, she and Charles Walter Porubsky were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where they were both lifetime members. They were blessed with 49 years of marriage until Charles death on July 29, 1998. They owned and operated their family business, Porubskys Grocery and Meats, for 61 years, where Lydia still worked until recently. She was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Altar Society, Women of the Moose Chapter 1091 and the American Legion Auxiliary 400. Survivors include her children, Matthew Porubsky, Charlie Porubsky, Mark Porubsky, Cecelia Pierson and Teresa Thomas, all of Topeka; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; brothers, John, Edward, William and Richard Kaberline; sisters, Mary Jacobs and Patricia Vinning, all of Topeka; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Paul and George and a sister, Sophie. Family will greet friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church, 3rd and Van Buren, where the Altar Society will lead a rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
