Description	:	Mrs. Lydia Luft, daughter of Samuel Morgenstern and his wife, Carolina, nee Heinz, was born July 21, 1869, in Russia. In her early infancy she was consecrated unto the Lord in holy baptism. When nine years old, she in the company of her parents came to this country, leaving Russia May 15 and arriving in Russell County June 15, 1873, settling near the present Milberger. Read More	Mrs. Lydia Luft, daughter of Samuel Morgenstern and his wife, Carolina, nee Heinz, was born July 21, 1869, in Russia. In her early infancy she was consecrated unto the Lord in holy baptism. When nine years old, she in the company of her parents came to this country, leaving Russia May 15 and arriving in Russell County June 15, 1873, settling near the present Milberger. After due instruction in the Word of God, she renewed her baptismal vow at her confirmation. On Feb. 25, 1887, she entered the holy state of matrimony with Henry Nuss and to this union was born four sons and eight daughters, two sons and her husband, who died November 26, 1927, preceding her in death. After their marriage, Mrs. Luft and her husband lived two years in Russell and 38 years in Barton county, engaged in farming. After the death of her husband, she spent sometime on their farm in Barton county, then she moved to Hoisington and then to Russell. On July 7, 1943 she was united in marriage to George Luft. She became ill sometime ago and entered the Russell Hospital where she died Wednesday, April 7 (sic), at the age of 77 years, nine months and 16 days. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Reinhold Nuss of Great Bend, and Siegmund Nuss, Hoisington; eight daughters, Johanna, Mrs. Samuel Radke, Great Bend; Eugenia, Mrs. David Temple of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Mrs. Herman Carst, Los Angeles, Calif; Paulina, Mrs. August Radke, Hoisington; Clara, Mrs. Emil Karst, Galatia, Rose, Mrs. Cally Stafford, Hoisington; Rachel, Mrs. Phillip McCough, Cheyenne, Wyo.; and Ester, Mrs. Otto Radke, Galatia; 43 greandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Seven brothers and one sister preceded her in death. On Friday, May 9, at 1 p.m. a short service was conducted in the Deines Bros funeral home and at 2 p.m. a service was held in the Missouri synod Lutheran church at Milberger, with Rev. H. L. Frese, minister, who spoke on the first Epistle of St. John 1:7, in English and Psalm 23:1 in German. The choir of the church sang two hymns, followed by a burial service in the Milberger Cemetery. Pallbearers were Otto Nuss, Roland Nuss, Richard Nuss, David Temple, Albert Karst and Clayton Stafford.
