Description	:	Lydia Osborne married John T Rogers on August 26, 1865 at Hazel Green, Wisconsin. John operated a farm near this place for a number of years and in the spring of 1871 in company with his brother, Edward, and his brother-in-law, Thomas Osborne, came to Carroll, Iowa, where they had purchased some of the raw prairie two years before. John & Lydia were the parents of Robert, Edward, Caroline, & Thomas. Sept 29, 1893 - Carroll Sentinel - Mrs. Lydia, wife of J.T. Rogers, died at her home Tuesday morning at 6 o'clock. For the past seven years the deceased has been a patient sufferer of the dread disease consumption. Year after year she felt her strength failing and saw her form gradually wasting but still she persued the course of duty finally realizing that the time would soon come when she would be called from her labors here to solve the question of the great unknown. During her declining days she remained able to be up about the house until last Friday when she was compelled to yield to the irresistible laws of nature. When her strength had so far failed that she was obliged to remain in bed, she saw that the end was near. She retained full possession of her faculties until an hour within the time of final dissolution. The transition from the living to the state of rest was so peaceful and quiet that family, with all its members could hardly realize that the life had fled and all that now remained of her who had been the source of hope and joy, was now mortal; that the mother and wife of the stricken family would never again be with them in sharing their sorrows and their joys. Mrs. Lydia Rogers was 49 years old and a native of Cornwall, England. Her parents moved to this country when she was a child. In later years she was married to J.T. Rogers who still survives. To this union five children were born, four of whom are living the other died in childhood. The deceased was a devout member of the Methodist church and was among the active workers in her younger days before she beoame a victim to the desease which called her from her earthly labors. The funeral was held at the M.E. church in this city Thursday at 1 o'olock, and the procession will start from the home about noon, Rev. Thompson will conduct the exercises.
