He was born in Maplewood, Lunenburg County, in 1892, the oldest son of the late Clark and Louisa Wentzell. Wentzell 1968 The community of Lower Branch and surrounding districts were shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Lyle Wentzell on Monday a.m., July 29, 1968, although in poor health for quite some time. He was born in Maplewood, Lunenburg County, in 1892, the oldest son of the late Clark and Louisa Wentzell. He is survived by his wife Laura; three sons, Roland, Lorraine and Merle; two grandchildren Robin and Christine, all of Lower Branch; one sister Frances (Mrs. Percy Jodrey) and an aunt, Mrs. Willis Frank of Maplewood. Predeceased were an only brother Russel, who was tragically killed at Andover, Maine; sister, Hazel (Mrs. Garfield Oickle) and an infant sister, Daisy. He was interested in all community projects, at one time a director of the Bridgewater Exhibition, and the Farmers' Co-Op, and also a member of the Federation of Agriculture. In 1931 he purchased the old Kaizer property and moved there from Maplewood which he developed into the Rolomere Farm, derived from the names of his three sons, where he was a purebred Hreford breeder. The funeral service was held on Wednesday p.m. at the Bridgewater United Baptist Church, Bridgewater and was largely attended by relatives and friends, conducted by Lic. D. Crouse who gave a comforting message to the sorrowing ones. Pallbearers were six nephews, Lloyd and Medford Jodrey, Rex Oickle, Jack Wentzell, Ray Corkum, and Wynn Rafuse. Two solos were rendered by Mrs. Bernard Wile, "In The Garden" and "The Day Thou Gavest." Floral tributes were many and beautiful, showing the esteem in which he was held. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
