Read More	Korean War Veteran Lyle Cecil Driskill, eldest child of Cecil Walter Driskill and Lura Oleta (Kaestner) Driskill, was born on November 9, 1928, in Des Moines, Iowa and passed away October 26, 2015, in Folsom, CA. In 1940, the Driskill family moved to their farm outside Blythedale, MO, where Lyle grew up. He graduated from Lamoni High School and attended Graceland College, where he met his first wife, Ardyce. Lyle was a veteran who served in the Korean War and was stationed in Okinawa. After he returned from Korea, he and Ardyce started their family with daughter, Pamela, and son, Hollis. Two more daughters, Robin and Sharon, added to the family after they moved from Lamoni to California. In 1974, Lyle married his second wife, Catherine Lou Jones. Their family was increased with the addition of Catherine's children, Deborah, Hal, and Roger. Lyle began his career working in public schools, first as a bus driver, then as a locksmith and custodian. He was active in the CSEA union in CA, serving as a chapter president in 1960. He retired from Palos Verdes School District as a Head (Supervising) Custodian in 1988. That same year, he and Catherine returned to Lamoni, where Lyle worked for Graceland University as a security officer, then in food service at the Swarm Inn and at the cafeteria. Lyle was most proud of his work with Masonic organizations. He was initiated in Redondo Lodge #328 in Redondo Beach, CA in 1968. He served his lodge as Worshipful Master in 1978; Worthy Patron for Carnation Chapter #171, Order of the Eastern Star; and served statewide office as Grand Trustee for the Order of the Amaranth. When he and Catherine returned to Iowa, he continued his service with the Amaranth by serving as Grand Royal Patron for the state of Iowa. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ferryl McDaniel and Marilyn Ratcliffe. He leaves behind his children, Pamela and David Jones of Chilliwack, BC, Canada, Hollis and Vivian Driskill of Murrieta, CA, Robin Driskill of Vallejo, CA, Sharon Heckley of Cameron Park, CA, Deborah and John Weatherford of Carmichael, CA, Hal and Lori Jones of Payette, Idaho, and Roger and Mary Jones of Whangarei, New Zealand, 12 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, and his surviving sister Donna Tapscott of Lamoni, Iowa. Lyle was a man with a twinkle in his eye and a story for every event. He loved family times and was the person who could always remember each child's birthday, even the youngest ones. He will be remembered for those stories of his which brought to life past histories and people now gone. Most of all, he will be remembered and celebrated as a man who adored and was adored by his family. Funeral services will be held at the Slade - O'Donnell Funeral Home in Lamoni, Iowa at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 9, 2015, with Past Master Dwayne Henrichs officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Lamoni, Iowa.
