Read More	Salina Journal September 1, 2009 LyIe Lee Walker CONCORDIA—Lyle Lee Walker, 91, Concordia, died Saturday Aug. 29, 2009, at Washington County Hospital. He was born Aug. 21, 1918, in Clay County the son of the late Earl and Lena Loveland Walker. He attended school in Concordia and graduated from high school in 1936. Mr. Walker served with the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945. He saw action in Germany, Ireland, England and France. Mr. Walker received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and European Theater Medal. He had worked for the U.S. Post Office for 38 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Moose Club and North Central Kansas Coin Club, He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War, Mr. Walker coached the Knights of Columbus Pee Wee baseball team for over 20 years and led them to the state championship in 1977. On July 22, 1947, he married Melina Letourneau in Concordia. She died May 3, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leon Walker; a son, Richard Walker; and a son-in-law, Max Hubbard. Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Hubbard, of Washington; one, sister. Alma Erickson, of Concordia; two brothers, Tom Walker, of Talmo, and Don Walker, of Grapeland, Texas; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends may call front 2 to 8 p.m. today at Nutter Mortuary Chapel, 116 E. Sixth St., Concordia 66901, with a vigil at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 2, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church; Concordia, with Father Barry Brinkman officiating. Burial will be in St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia, with military graveside honors provided by VFW Post 588 and American Legion Post 76, both of Concordia. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date, in care of the mortuary.
