No ruling has been made on how the shooting occurred. Mr. Danker was born on a farm in Jefferson township, Poweshiek county, on June 3, 1930. He was one of a family of seven children born to Rudolph and Eva Danker. His early years were spent on the farm where he was born. He attended Jefferson school No. 2 in Poweshiek county. At the conclusion of his education, he assisted his father with the operation of the family farm. In January, 1952, Mr. Danker enlisted in the. U. S. Marine Corps. After two years of distinguished service during which he received promotion to the position of corporal, he was honorably discharged from the U. S. Marine Corps in January, 1954. On May 20, 1955, he was united in marriage to Donna Joan Markham of Belle Plaine at the Little Brown church near Nashua. After their marriage, they began housekeeping on his father's farm where he worked the land jointly with his father. A year ago, they moved to a nearby farm of their own. At the time of his death, Mr. Danker was a member of the Jennings-Bradshaw Legion post in Belle Plaine. He also was member of the National Farmers Organization for the past three years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children, Linda Sue, Thomas Nathan, David LeRoy, John Michael, Patricia Lynn, Marsha Ellen, and Amy Joe, all at home; his parents; five sisters, Mrs. Larry (Joanne) Carl, Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Jean Redmon, Traer, Mrs. Lawrence (Carol) Siems, Williamsburg, Mrs. Henry (Evelyn) Dorman, Oxford; and Miss Marilyn Danker, Des Moines; one brother. Lawrence Danker, Cedar Rapids; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Friday, January 22, at 2 p.m. from Hrabak's funeral home in Belle Plaine. Rev. Alvin Boettcher, pastor of the First Congregational church in Belle Plaine. officiated at the services. Mrs. Laura Korns was soloist and Mrs. Marie Christman was organist. Pallbearers were Russell Hultman, Aldon Murphy, Marvin Benesh, Marvin Cecak, C. W. Carson and Merle Leimberer.
