Description	:	Lyle Scott Keith, one of three children and the only son of Benjamin Albert and Mary (Kauffman) Keith, was born on a farm in Nuckolls County, Nebraska, near Nelson on January 13, 1914. He was raised on the farm and educated in Superior and Nelson schools. On February 12, 1944, in Hastings, Nebraska, he was united in marriage to Joyce McCune. This union was blessed with four children, Richard, Gary, Cindy and Scott. He was a member of the Nuckolls County Fair Board, Legion of Leaders in Chevrolet Division and the American Quarter Horse Association and he raised and bred quarter horses. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Janette Graham Rassmussen. "Spec" passed away at his home Sunday, August 29, 1993, at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 16 days. Survivors include his wife Joyce of Superior; 3 sons, Richard Keith of Webster, Massachusetts, Gary Keith of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Scott Keith of Kanopolis, Kansas; one daughter, Cindy Thornton and her husband Paul of Superior, Nebraska; 7 grandchildren, Nikole and Scott Keith, Jennifer and Brian Thornton, Chance, Russell and Anna Keith; 1 great granddaughter, Amanda Keith; 1 sister, Alberta Merrill of Buena Vista, Colorado; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 31, 1993, at 10 a.m. from Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska, with Pastor Louis Baptist officiating. Music was provided by soloist Janice Thomas singing a selection of "In The Garden" with Carlita Price as organist. Casketbearers were Glenn Platt, Larry Graham, Vic Meyers, Bob Saathoff, Dean Kile and Raymond Lang. Honorary casketbearers were Dale Adcock, Aaron Porter, Carroll Alexander, Fred Alexander and Chet Moran. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery north of Superior.
